We hired Demetri Demus, through Brick & Mortar Properties, as our listing agent. We were extremely disappointed with his services (we had to write our own listing descriptions, bought our own open house signs because he did virtually nothing to market the house, etc). We finally had no choice but to fire him because he unethically, and quite possibly illegally, told a buyer’s agent an exact number to offer for our home (which, by the way, was the number he was told was less than we were comfortable with). After we told him we were no longer going to use his services for the reason stated above, he refused to provide me with a mutual release until I gave him $500. The owner and primary broker for the company, Robert Smith, refused to even answer his phone or return a voicemail in response to our complaints against the behavior of his employee. My advice is to run far and run fast to literally any other agency/ agent. Follow up to owner’s response: While you claim that integrity and professionalism are a part of your core values, your actions speak otherwise. Many attempts were made to reach out and resolve/ talk through the issue, yet no response was even attempted on your part until it was brought into a public forum. I have no interest in reaching out any further and look forward to putting this entire ordeal in the past. Next time, I’ll be sure to vet my listing agent and agency much more diligently.
